A MODEL MAP REMOVED

TO THE EDITOR Of THE TRESS. Sir, —I very much agree with “B.L.E-” that a great mistake has been made in destroying the model map of New Zealand in the Botanic Gardens. As regards the statement by the chairman of the Domains Board, that nothing would grow on the map, I have been thinking for some time, that a few sheen should have been put on each island to keep the growth down. I have often been asked by visitors where the map was situated. For some time before its demolition the top part of the map above Auckland was under water. Another mistake was to put the half-circle stone seat in the shadow of trees by the College wall. It is alwavs covered with moss; this seat sho’uld always be in the sun.—Tours etC " KEEP N.Z, ON THE MAP. October 20, 1937.
