Mr Hutchinson's history, which is written from the point of view of a Socialist economist, brings the story of the British occupation and control of India from the first period of seizure and exploitation up to the new departure of the Government of India Act, the effect of which, in his view, will be "to strengthen greatly the imperialist hold of India." Practical Time-Travel. By Colin Bennett. Rider and Co. 192 pp. (8s). Through Whitcombc and Tombs Ltd. By Herbert Spencer. Reissued with an introduction by T. W. Hill, Secretary to the Herbert Spencer Trustees. Watts and Co. The place of "First Principles" in the history of evolutionary philosophy, if not the validity of its argument, justifies its being reprinted to-day. .
