BOMB EXPLOSIONS IN THEATRES
PANIC-STRICKEN CROWDS IN NEW YORK OUTRAGE ATTRIBUTED TO LABOUR DISPUTE (Received September 14, 12.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 13. Stench bombs and tear-gas bombs were simultaneously exploded in 24 New York cinemas , half-way through the night screenings. Thousands stampeded into the streets to escape the choking, nauseating fumes. Fifty were injured, the majority suffering minor burns and cuts. Police squads rushed to the theatres to control the panicstricken crowds. The outrage is attributed to a labour dispute.
