SCARLET FEVER OUTBREAK

FIVE NOTIFICATIONS IN ASHBURTON COUNTY CLOSING OF SCHOOL AT SOMERTON Five cases of scarlet fever from the Somerton district were notified to the Ashburton County Health Inspector (Mr E. N. Johnson) during the week-end and the Somerton School was closed yesterday for this week. The outbreak occurred among children-of two families, four being of school age, and all were admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital. The infection was traced to a case which had occurred in the district about three weeks ago and was not reported to the authorities.
