CHINA ISSUES WARNING

Retaliation Against Blockade JAPANESE VESSELS TO BE BOMBED Foreign Ships Asked To Avoid Shanghai (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (Received September 9, 11 p.m.) LONDON, September 9. China has informed the Powers that she will retaliate against the Japanese shipping blockade by bombing from the air Japanese ships, and for this reason she advises incoming foreign vessels to give the war at Shanghai a wide berth. An official warning was given to shipping to keep clear of Japanese warships .and transports, also to paint the national colours on the decks. The result of the Chinese bombing of warships in the Shanghai area is negligible. The British cruisers, Danae and Falmouth, and the American vessel Augusta, were sprinkled with shrapnel.
