THE WAIMARINO’S CARGO
STATEMENT BY HARBOUR OFFICIAL (THE PRESS Special Service.) AUCKLAND, September 8Unavoidable circumstances bad caused the coastal steamer WaimariPO to discharge South Island produce in piles on the western wharf, explained Mr W. R. Golden, traffic manager of the Auckland Harbour Board, when the matter was referred to him. Through lack of storage and berthing space at the Auckland wharves, the Waimarino had been forced to unload at the Western wharf, which is not usually used for the discharge of produce, and the cargo was placed w planks in the open and covered wim tarpaulins. —■ Mr Golden stated that this was the first occasion on which such cargo bad been stacked at the wharf. He ex* pected that by to-morrow afternoon the residue of the produce would h# stowed in sheds.
