DESTRUCTION OF FOOD
ro rm toiToa o? tbi rr.Ka» Sir,—Potatoes are dear again this year. One wonders if the Minister watching over the supply of food for the people is going to see that thousands of tons of potatoes are not emptied into the sea. as they were last year at Lyttelton and Timaru. Every season the growers hang on to small quantities of potatoes until it is really too late to meet the needs of consumers, and these small quantities make up in the aggregate seme hundreds of tons. Why cannot the Minister contrive to have all these small parcels of potatoes yielded up now—at a fair price?— Yours, etc.. 1 v SPUD. September 9, 1937.
