Letters to The Editor
the amount of the credit balance of New Zealand’s capital account. Apparently Mr Thomas favours nationalisation of banking, an idea that is anathema to Douglas and all his followers. Again, in another statement, he implies that there is no fundamental difference between social credit and Socialism. I defy him to quote Douglas or any other responsible writer on social credit in support of his assumption. . , . If as he says, one third of the members of the Government are in favour of the issue of debt-free money, I fail to see that to obtain pledges from these members would be "a waste of time.” Refusal by any of them to agree with the terms of the signed demands would indicate to the signatory electors how they should vote. This should dispose of Mr Thomas’s contention tnat the social credit movement can have no official policy as to how its individual members shall vote. Yours, etc ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY.
