OBITUARY

MR H. W. LEVER

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TKLEGEAM.) , WELLINGTON. September 8. The death occurred this morning, after a short illness, of Mr Henry William Lever, of Wellington, aged 79, formerly chief inspector for New Zealand of the Bank of New South Wales. Mr Lever was born in Brisbane in 1858, and. joined the Bank of New South Wales in that city at the age of 19. After his marriage to Miss Eva Currie, of Armadale, he was transferred in 1910 to New Zealand, having been appointed manager of the bank's Napier branch. A year later he was transferred to ■Wellington, taking over the managership of the bank there. In 1921 he was appointed chief inspector for New Zealand, a position he held until his retirement in 1927. Mr Lever was a trustee of the Wellington Diocesan Board and also chairman of directors of Thomas Brown and Company, Ltd. Mr Lever is . survived -by his wife and' four daughters, Mrs S. George Nathan (Wellington), Mrs Stronach Paterson (Wellington), Mrs Moataa Doughty (Wellington), and Mrs W. I. K. Jennings (Wellington). A son died in Australia some years ago.
