WOMEN'S DIVISION OF FARMERS' UNION

TAI TAPU BRANCH

The Tai Tapu branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union held its monthly meeting at the local hall, with Mrs McLachlan presiding. A donation of .£5 was granted to the Community Chest fund, and £2' to the Crippled Children Society. A competition for a bowl of spring flowers was won by Mrs Wilks. Mr Wagner (Motukarara) gave a travel talk on a trip from Calcutta to Bombay, via Lahore and Karachi. Supper was served by the hostesses.

CLARKVILLE-EAST EYRETON BRANCH

The monthly meeting of the Clark-ville-East Eyreton branch of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the East Eyreton Hall. Mrs W. Martin presided. Mrs Martin reported on attending the Belfast branch birthday party, and thanked all those who had assisted with the Home Industries Fair. Mrs J. Smith reported attending the Ohoka Women's Institute birthday party. -It was decided to visit the Karitane Home on September 16. r A number of gifts were received to send to the Makogai leper station. The hostesses were Mrs A. Giles, Miss N. Hassall, and Mrs L. W. E. Giles An interesting address on Sydney was given by Mrs A. E. Brown, Kaiapoi. Competitions resulted:—Ginger cake Miss Holland and Miss Doris Holland' equal 1, Mrs J. Smith 2, Mrs G. H Hassall 3; best bloom, Mrs G. H Hassall 1, Mrs T. Holland 2, Mrs J. Smith

HAREWOOD BRANCH

The September meeting of the Harewood branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the Highsted road Hall. Mrs N. A. Fraser presided over a good attendance, and welcomed visitors and two new members.

The roll call was well responded to and the competition "something new from something old" produced a splendid variety of garments which will be given to needy families.
