EDUCATIONAL COURSE NEXT WEEK

COUNTRY GIRLS TO VISIT CHRISTCHURCH The country girls' educational course; which has been arranged by the North Canterbury Provincial Executive of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers* Union, will commence in Christchurch next Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, when those attending the course will assemble at the Little Theatre, Canterbury University College. At this gathering preliminary arrangements will be made for the rest of the course and a roll call will be held, when girls will be asked to speak on their district, particular work, and hobbies. The official welcome by the Mayor of Christchurelt (Mr J. W. Beanland) will be held at 11.15 aan., when addresses -will also be given by the Rector of Canterbury University College, Dr. J. Hight, and the presidents of various bodies. The course, which will continue until' Friday, September 3, will include visits to the Botanic Gardens, the Provincial Council Chambers, the Karitane Baby Hospital, and the Sign of the Takahe. Talks will also be given by Dr. A. B. O'Brien, Miss Marjory Bassett, Miss Mary McLean, Miss H. A. Trent, Mrs W. Taylor, Mrs A. Elizabeth. Kelly and : Messrs J. A. McPherson and J. L. Hay.
