LOANS FOR LOCAL BODIES

Concern at the inability of local bodies to raise loans at'the rates fixed by the Loans Board was expressed at the counties* conference to-day, and the report of the committee which considered the remits was adopted.
This report was that because considerable difficulty was being experienced in raising money'at the Z\ per cent, prescribed, and Government institutions had been unable to provide these funds, the Government be requested to provide a fund from which adequate requirements of local bodies might be found at the statutory rate.
