I-** a Special Meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board called for that purpose and held at the Office of the Board in the City of Christchurch on the Twenty-fourth day of August, 1937, the said Board did Resolve: — THAT WHEREAS the Christchurch Drainage Board is authorised by Section 14, Finance (No. 2) Act 1936 (unless a poll of ratepayers is demanded in accordance with the provisions of sub-section 3 of Section 14 of such Act) by Special Order and without taking the steps prescribed by Sections 9 to 13 of the Local Bodies Loans Act 1926, borrow such moneys as may be required for any public work undertaken, or proposed to be undertaken, for the relief of unemployment. NOW THEREFORE the Christchurch Drainage Board in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Finance (No. 2) Act, 1936, the Christchurch District Drainage Act 1907* and the Local Bodies Loans Act 1926, HEREBY RESOLVES, by way of Special Order, to—(1) Raise the sum of One thousand seven hundred pounds for the purpose of widening, deepening and generally improving a water course known as I Dudley Creek situated in that portion of the Christchurch Drainage District known as Rural Christchurch defined by Resolutions of the Board bearing date the Seventeenth day of November 1903, the Twenty-first day of May 1907, the Sixteenth day of February 1909, the Fifteenth day of February 1910, the Fifteenth day of March 1910. the> Nineteenth day of May 1913, and the Sixteenth day of September 1919, in accordance with the powers conferred by Section 44, Christchurch District Drainage Act 1907, (2) That the security of said loan to provide interest and sinking fund thereon shall be a Special Rate of Five two hundred and fifty sixths (5/256ths) of a penny in the pound on the capital rateable value of all rateable property within the said District of Rural Christchurch. (3) That the whole of the loan be repayable on the Thirtieth day of September 1949, bearing interest in the meantime at a rate not exceeding three and one half per centum (3$ per cent.) per annum. (4) That a sinking fund of £7.0462 per centum per annum be provided to repay the loan at maturity. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Meeting of the Board will be held at the Office of the Board, 198 Hereford street, Christchurch, on Tuesday, the 28th day of September 1937, at 7.30 o'clock p.m., for the purpose of confirming the said Resolution. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in pursuance of the provisions of the Finance Act 1936 (No. 2) that a poll of the Ratepayers will be taken on the foregoing proposal if five per centum of the Ratepayers of the said SubDistrict of RURAL CHRISTCHURCH so demand by writing under their hands delivered to, or sent by post to, the Christchurch Drainage Board at its office situate at 198 Hereford street in the City of Christchurch before 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, the Twentyeighth day of September 1937.
