ARE GIRLS SUFFICIENTLY CLOTHED?

Modern ideas of dress are all right when the weather plays its part. For instance, on a recent bright and comparatively warm day, a party of girls •went riding, the clipped and groomed horses and smart riders presenting a .■very pretty picture. After some hours' riding there was a halt for a rest and a meal. Two of the girls became quite chilled, and as the temperature dropped in the late afternoon, had quite a miserable ride homewards. For tunately'both girls hurried straight home, got to bed, and took Baxter's Lung Preserver, and so prevented any serious developments. , This instance shows the necessity of all those engaged in outdoor sports, on hiking trips, etc., being adequately clad or taking extra clothing with them. It also shows the wisdom of ieeping "Baxter's" handy at home to prevent a serious cold developing. This warming, soothing remedy, which is •»o pleasant to take, quickly stops a cold and will also break up an established cold in record time.

The huge demand for "Baxters" at •the present time indicates the prevalence o* colds, and the recognised jalue of "Baxters," 1/6, 2/6, and 4/6 *"om all chemists and stores. —4

THE CANTERBURY TEAM

MATCH WITH SOUTHLAND

SEVERAL CHANGES IN SIDE

The sole selector to the Canterbury Rugby Union (Mr W. J. Whitham) has chosen the following team to represent Canterbury against Southland at Lancaster Park to-morrow afternoon: — Full-back: G. T. Nolan (Old Boys).

Three-quarters: J. D. Carmichael (University), K. S. Mortlock (Old Boys), R. F. Chinnery (Sunnyside). Five-eighths: J. A. Hooper (Sunnyside), R. Garrett (Albion). Half-back: J. J. McAuliffe (University). Forwards —Back row: F. J. Foley (Old Boys). Middle row: H. Milliken (Sunnyside), C. W. Williams (University), W. Coll (Athletic), D. Herman (Technical). Front row: J. O. Hattersley (Sydenham), R. Burke (Sunnyside), N. J. McPhail (Old Boys). Emergencies—Backs: J. C. Pawson (Christchurch), G. B. Eathorne (Albion), L. Brown (Sydenham). Forwards: W. Fleming (Christchurch), C. Pablecheque (Sunnyside). W. G. Brooks (Sydenham) was not available because of indisposition, and Pablecheque is also slightly indisposed. D. Whillans (Athletic) has left Christchurch since last Saturday's match against the Springboks, in which he was one of the outstanding Canterbury players. The side differs in several respects from that which lost to the South Africans. In the backs Carmichael, Mortlock, and Garrett replace Eathorne, Pawson, and Brooks respectively. In the fowards Burke replaces Fleming, and there has been a reshuffle of the middle row, Herman coming into the team as specialist loose forward in place of Whillans, Milliken taking Pablecheque's place on the other side of the scrum, and Coll taking the lock position occupied by Milliken in the match against the Springboks. Although Milliken is usually a lock forward, he played on the side of the scrum against Taranaki and gave a very satisfactory display in the unaccustomed position. The side is strong at all points and should give a good account of itself against Southland, the present holder of the Ranfurly Shield. The curtain-raiser will be Christchurch v. Athletic under 18 years kicking off at 1 o'clock.
