WIN FOR R. MCKAY

CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

The final of the Canterbury amateur billiards championship between R. McKay (Returned Soldiers' Association) and A. Albertson (Lyttelton) resulted in a win for McKay by 500 to 498. The game was held at the Commercial Travellers' Association's rooms, the referee being Mr J. Black. The bout was as close as the score indicates. Best breaks were:—McKay, 25, 24, 24, 27, 34, 24, 49, 31, and 21; Albertson, 37, 23, 33, 53, 53, 32, and 20. The contest was hard-fought, the difference in scores at some stages being as much as 90.
