RADIO PROPAGANDA

COUNTER-MEASURES PROPOSED IN BRITAIN

Crnou 008 OWN COBHBSPOjrDENT.) LONDON, June 16. Conferences have been held lately between representatives of the Foreign Office and the British Broadcasting Corporation to consider the foreign broadcast propaganda inflicted on parts of the Empire. Complaints have been received from General Hertzog that the German Nazi propaganda to Africa was particularly serious, and that the Empire broadcasts from here were not being received at sufficient strength to counteract it.

A memorandum on the subject is to be prepared by the corporation, and it is possible that broadcasts in foreign languages will be considered. The centre of 'Nazi propaganda is the Zessen station, which sends out programmes in foreign languages for a total of 50 hours a week.

This station, says the “Irish Times,” sends birthday greetings to named listeners in Australia and New Zealand every morning. The British Broadcasting Corporation will prepare a statement as to the plans it would recommend if the Government should decide to make use of counter propaganda.
