TWO .MEMBERS OF CREWDROWNED
(Received July 9, 10 p.m.) DARWIN, July 9. A Japanese pearling lugger, loaded with 300 tons of pearl shell, valued at £42,000, foundered off the North Australian coast in 15 fathoms of water after being struck by a severe squall. The purser and a diver were drowned. Twenty others took to the lifeboats and were picked up by a smaller lugger. The sunken vessel is believed to be the mother-ship, Sanyo Maru, which was recently constructed.
