BRITISH BONDS WITH FRANCE
"Favourable Factor In World Affairs"
MR EDEN STATES POLICY TOWARDS SPAIN
(UNITED VB.SS3 ASSOCIATIOK—COPYRIGHT.) (Received July 4, 10 p.m.) LONDON, July 3. The Foreign Secretary (Mr R. A. Eden), speaking in Warwickshire, said Britain's interest in the Spanish war was the maintenance of territorial integrity which both parties in Spain shared, however much they disagreed on other matters. In pursuit of this integrity they would always have British support. Among the important favourable factors in world affairs was, first, the Imperial Conference, which had contributed much towards peace, and, second, the relations between France and Britain, which had never been better.
In these relations, however, there was nothing menacing or exclusive. A realisation by other nations that that understanding could not easily be broken might widen the circle of friendship.
