BRACKENFIELD HUNT
MEET AT WEST EYRETON
An enjoyable meet of the Brackenfield Hunt was held on the property of Mr M. Spencer Bower at West Eyreton on Saturday. After a sharp frost, the ground was hard in the morning, but a thaw soon set in and conditions were favourable. Hounds threw off opposite the homestead and were soon away to give the field many good runs over the surrounding open country. All the jumps were wire. One kill was made, a hare being pulled down on the main road.
There was a good attendance of both riders and followers in cars, all of whom were entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs Spencer Bower. Those riding were the joint master, Mr H. D. Greenwood, on Bay Rhum, the honorary whips, Mr I. Menzies on Ace Pot, and Pinocchio, and Mr R. Parsons on Raffles, Huntsman R. A. Ferguson on Irishman and Bengal, Mr H. Menzies on Crusader, Mr B. G. Rutherford on White Heather, Miss Monica Little on Molly McCree, Miss Rona Little on Kildare, Miss C. Macdonald on Spook, Miss R. Macdonald on Rufus. Miss Audrey Tutton on Repudiate, Miss Fay Roberts on The Possum, Miss Cushla Rutherford on Robin, Miss Isabel Bennett on Merry Maid, Mrs H. Menzies on Decanter, Miss Barbara Stringer on Nightfall, Miss Cecily Wright on Jingler. Following in cars were Mrs H. D. Greenwood, Miss C. Baker, Miss Judith Greenwood, Mr and Mrs W. S. Wright, Mrs W. Anderson, Mrs M. Bethell, Mrs M. Macfarlane, Mr M. Spencer Bower, Mrs H. T. Little, Mrs A. J. Tutton, Mr G. L. Rutherford, Mrs Lance, Miss Lance, Mr Lance, Mrs W. C. Prosser, Miss H. Ferguson, Dr. and Mrs G. B. Dance, Miss N. Mulholland, Mrs H. M. Burgin, Misses Burgin, Mr H. V. Wareing, Mr A. Ferguson, Mrs C. H. Sykes, and Miss Sykes.
GIFT PARTY AT KAIAPOI
Mrs A. Bottrell, whose marriage will take place this month, was the guest of honour at a variety gift party given by Mrs L. C. B. Fuldseth and Mrs M. Isbjster at their home, Cass street. K.a\apoi, on Friday afternoon. Cards were played, after which afternoon tea was served in the dining-room. Many dainty gifts wore presented to the guest of honour. The winners at cards were I\.rs J. G. Yellowlees and Mrs E. Bristow.

A. J. WHITE'S STAFF DANCE
Close at hand is an event which promises to be one of the most outstanding of the present series of staff dances. On Wednesday next the staff of A. J. White, Ltd.. will hold its annual ball at the Winter Garden.
