Mr and Mrs Melville Jameson, who have been visiting Mr and Mrs L G D. Acland, Hororata, arrived m Christchurch on Saturday and are staying at "The Lodge," Hereford street.
Mr and Mrs William Bond and Miss Mary Bond (Dunrobin, Southland) will arrive in Christchurch tomorrow and will stay at Warwick House.
Mr and Mrs C. M. Malfroy (Weill- gton), who left New Zealand four months ago for Britain, will leave London this week for Sweden. They have been attending the Coronation festivities in London with their daughter, Miss Margaret Malfroy, and have been visiting Mr and Mrs , O. J. Malfroy, Cambridge, and Mr C. E. Malfroy, Bristol. Mr C. E. Malfroy, the New Zealand Davis Cup player, who recently returned from a tour of India and Egypt, lias not fully recovered from an illness contracted in India and was forbidden by his doctor to play in the tennis tournament at Wimbledon, where he has been a competitor for many years.
Mrs C. W. F. Hamilton (Irishman Creek, Mackenzie Country),' who has been visiting England, will arrive in Lyttelton to-morrow by the Rangitiki. Miss Lucy Wills (Tekapo) and Mr and Mrs M. Wills ("Opawa," Albury) have come to Christchurch to meet her.
News was received by cablegram in Christchurch on Saturday of the birth of a daughter to Mr and Mrs Walter Thompson, of Hong Kong. Mrs Thompson was formerly Miss Norah Haggitt, of Merivale, Christchurch, who has many friends in different parts of the South Island. Mr and Mrs Charles Todd (Wellington) and their daughters, Dr. Kathleen and Miss Moyra Todd, left London on June 4 for a visit to Nice, where Mr Todd would attend a Rotary conference, wrote the London correspondent of "The Press" on June 4.
Misses Betty Cotterill and Ngaio Marsh (Christchurch) and Jean Webster (Wellington), who are visiting Britain, left London after the Coronation ceremonies for a motor tour in Austria. Mrs T. W. Martin (Hataitai) is the guest of Mrs E. A. Miller at Rhodes Convalescent Home, Cashmere Hills. Mr and Mrs T. C. Robinson and Miss Dorothy Robinson ("Mount Palm," Rotherham) will leave this week for a holiday visit to Sydney and Brisbane.
Miss Stella Edwards, who has been in Christchurch for a few weeks, will return to Fiji at the end of the week.

EVENING SOCIAL
The monthly social of the ladies' committee of the Returned Soldiers' Literary and Debating Society, held on Saturday evening at the home ol Mr and Mrs W. T. Woods (Fitzgerald avenue), was a most enjoyable function.
During the early part of the evening "flag 500" was played, the winners being Mrs Jean Brayne and Messrs A. and D. Rennie. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs J. Forrest and Mr and Mrs W. J. Wilson.
After supper a programme of musical and elocutionary items was given by Miss Rita Dixon (pianoforte solo), Mr Jack Woods (song), Mr F. C. Williams (recitation), Mr B. R. McLaren (recitation).
The president of the ladies' commitr tee (Mrs W. E. Sewell) reported that the copper trail had realised £1 12s 2d for the funds of the society. The committee was thanked for its successful effort. _

SOCIAL AT NEW BRIGHTON
The social committee of the New Brighton sub-branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association entertained members, their wives, and friends at an enjoyable evening social. The time was spent in games, competitions, and dancing. Mr A. F. Cotton was master of ceremonies, and Mesdames R. Prebble and F. F. Ebert played pianoforte selections.
Prize-winners during the evening •were Mv A. Burtt and Miss D. Cant. Mrs A. E; Martin, Miss N. Fisher and Mv M. Fitzgerald. Mrs A. Taylor and Mr F. O. Ormandy, Mr and Mrs A. S. Cotton, Mrs R. J. Potter. Miss D. Cant, and Mr W. G. Tuton. Those present included Mesdames W H Fisher. C. Thomson. A. F. Cotton, F- F' Ebert, A. H. Burtt, W. G. Toombs. B. H. Jones. R. Prebble. R. J Potter. M. G.
