CONVERSION OF CARS AND THEFT
TWO YOUNG MEN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE
(FBUSS ASSOCIATION rBLEGEAM.) AUCKLAND, July 1. Three charges of converting motorcars to their own use, one of breaking and entering a shop and committing theft, one of committing mischief, and one of stealing a motor-car num-ber-plate were brought against two young labourers, Harry Joseph Abbott Lomax, aged 19, and Philip Daniel Trainor, aged 23, in the Police Court. On one charge of converting a car at Christchurch they were remanded to appear there on Tuesday. They pleaded guilty to all other charges and on two of converting motor-cars, and on that of breaking and entering they were committed to the Supreme Court at Christchurch for sentence. On the charge of mischief they were ordered to'pay the cost o' the damage, and on the charge of stealing a number-piate they were sentenced to 24 hours' imprisonment.
