BY-ELECTION IN BRITAIN
PLYMOUTH SEAT RETAINED FOR GOVERNMENT (Received June 16, 10 p.m.) LONDON, June 15. The by-election for the Drake division of Plymouth, made necessary by the death of the sitting member, Captain the Hon. F. E. Guest, resulted as follows: — Lieutenant-Colonel the Hon. H. Guest (Nat., Con.) .. 15,778 G. T. Garratt (Lab.) .. 11,044 Majority for Guest .. 4,734 Lieutenant-Colonel Guest is a brother of the former member. [At the 1935 general election the voting resulted:—Captain the H 0... F. E. Guest, 21,443; J. J. H. M-ses (Lab.), 15,368; majority for Guest, 6078.1
