MR BODKIN AND COMMUNISM
TO THB IDITOB OF TH* PRKSS Sir,— Many will thank your correspondent, W. L. Robertson, for stating so clearly the Labour Government's real objective. Many of the Labour Party have been trying to retain the thousands of ill-gotten votes which helped to nut the party into nower, bv camouflaging the real objective. For instance, the Labour member of Hamilton, Mr C. A. Barrell, has tried his hardest to prove to his Douglas credit supporters that the long-distance objective of Labour was really social credit. It did not go down, however. Too many ill-guarded admissions have been made by Cabinet Ministers, and some of the rank and file, that the old Socialist programme was being adhered to; and the spate of social credit terms and phrases (now studiously avoided) which slipped off the tongues ol Labour candidates at election time was obviously mere vote-catching strategy. It cannot be repeated, however, and a spate of uncomfortable questions will be the answer to the trickery practised when Labour members go to the hustings next year. Now we know! Our thanks to Mr Robertson.—Yours, etc., PROMISES AND PIECRUST. June 16, 1937.
