MILK INDUSTRY IN CITY

REPORT RECEIVED BY COUNCIL The report on the milk industry in Christchurch, prepared by the manager ol the Wellington City Corporation's Milk Department (Mr R. E. Herron), was received yesterday by the City Council. The material for the report was obtained by Mr Herron when he visited Christchurch about three weeks ago and met representatives ol all branches of the industry. It is unlikely, according to the Mayor (Mr J. W. Beanland), that the report will be available for publication until it has been considered by the milk committee of the council and by the council itself. The Mayor has already indicated that no decision will be made about any change in the system of supply until the return to Christchurch of Sir Hugh Acland, the chairman of the milk committee, who is on a tour of the United States and Great Britain, During this tour Sir Hugh Acland is obtaining information about milk supply schemes that may be of use to the council.
