RECURRENCE OF PARALYSIS EPIDEMIC NOT FEARED j • (I'iIESS ASSDCUTIOH TM-Xoaktt.) AUCKLAND. June 16. "For the whole of New Zealand the position is satisfactory, as the population is becoming immune," said the Director-General of* Health (Dr. M. H. Watt) when interviewed at Auckland to-day about the infantile paralysis epidemic. , Jt . He said it was likely that cases would continue for some time, probably for a year, but the disease was definitely on the wane. There was no reason to fear a recurrence next summer. ASHBURTON SCHOOL CLOSED A positive case of infantile paralysis, a boy aged four and a half, living in the Ashburton borough, was admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital on The Ashburton Convent School, of which the boy was a pupil, was closed yesterday, and will not be opened until next week. TWO FURTHER NOTIFICATIONS AT WELLINGTON (I'KESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAII.) WELLINGTON, June 16. Two further cases of infantile paralysis were reported from the Wellington Public Hospital this evening. They are a boy aged.six, from the city area, and another aged five, from Petone. Neither is suffering from an acute form of paralysis.
