PLOUGHING MATCH
GATHERING AT WAIAU A ploughing match, organised by the Waiau branch of • the New Zealand Farmers' Union, was held at Lyndon, Walau, yesterday. The gathering was the Hrst of Its kind in the district, and it is hoped to make the event an annual affair. Yesterday's success ensures that tills desire will be fulfilled, as there were quite good entries for an initial match, in both team and tractor classes, and the display of horse-flesh was out of the ordinary. The day was fine overhead, though dull, and the ground selected for the match was in excellent condition. Liberal prize money was provided, and in addition a number of cups. The judges were Messrs R. Peach (Ashley Bank) and J. G. S. Wyllie (Sefton). The following are the results:— HORSE CLASSES Class I—No entry. Class 2 (two-furrow, 21 years and over) —Best feering: J. Casserley 1. T. S.
