To-day's Davis Cup results at European centres were:— South Africa v. Jugoslavia At Zagreb, Jugoslavia eliminated South Africa. Puncec (Jugoslavia) beat Farquharson (South Africa), 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Pallada (Jugoslavia) beat Kirby (South Africa), 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Jugoslavia won the four singles matches, South Africa winning only the doubles. France v. Czechoslovakia At Prague, Czechoslovakia eliminated France, winning three of the five matches. Hecht (Czechoslovakia) beat Boussus (France), 2-6, 6-1, 7-5, 6-0. Italy v. Germany At Milan von Cramm and Henkel (Germany) beat Quintaville and Taroni (Italy), 6-3, 6-1, 6-1. In the sing es on Saturday Italy and Germany each won a match. Belgium v. Sweden At Brussels, Schroeder (Sweden) beat De la Croix (Belgium), 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, 4-6. 6-2. Belgium had previously won one singles match and the doubles. Sweden had won the other singles mat'h and one singles match remains to decide the series.
