BASIC WAGE IN VICTORIA

, ■ ♦ N.Z. CONDITIONS CITED IN UNION'S CLAIM MELBOURNE, June 5. During the hearing of a claim by 52 unions for an increase in the basic wage, Mr Crofts, for the unions, produced a cable message from the Acting-Prime Minister of New Zealand (tht Hon. P. Fraser), which stated that the restoration of purchasing power to wage earners by the present Government had been quickly reflected in improved business conditions. Mr Fraser added that there had been no evidence of the flight of capital to Aust-alia as a result of the Government measures in New Zealand.
