Government New Zealand Government/ 4 per cent, stock due 1946 appeared easier with buyers and business at £lO3 17s 6d. Commercial Bank of Australia were fractionally firmer at 19s Id. Bank of New Zealand were firm with sellers and business at 45s 4d, buyers at 45s 3d—the mortgage shares were firm at 27s 7d, market closing Id either way. National Bank of New Zea 7 and were firmer on buyers' offers, 64s 6d. Goldsbrough, Morts were fractionally firmer at 37s lid, market closing Id either way. New Zealand Refrigerating 10s paid were steady at 8s lid, closing quotations Id on either s:de. North Canterbury Freezing remained unaltered at 425. Westport-Stockton Coal were firm at 2s 9d, market closing Id either way. New Zealand Breweries dropped to 50s 3d and 50s, and more were offered at 50s 2d—the "rights" weakened from 24s 3d to 235. Staples Brewery shares declined to 535, and closed easier with sellers at 52s 8d buyers at 525. Tooths Brewery fell to 555, buyers staying in at that price. Miscellaneous Anthony Hordern were steady at 18s lOd. British Tobacco were firm with buyers and dealings at 49s 3d. Broken Hill Proprietary recovered to dealings at prices ranging from 81s 6d to 80s lOd, and more were wanted at the lowest price. A late sale cf the contributing on Wednesday was reported at 74s Cd—dealings yesterday were at 75s 6d and 74s 9d, market closing 74s 8d buy ers, 74s lOd sellers. Burns, Philp had business at 71s 9d. Consolidated Brick were firmer with buyers and business at 8s 6d. Dunlop Rubber advanced to 22s lOd and there were further sellers at that price. Electrolytic Zinc ordnary were fractionally firmer at 56s 6d and 56s 7d—the preference advanced to 58s to 58s 4d." G. J. Coles changed hands at £5 8s 6d and £5 Bs. Felt and Textiles were fractionally weaker at 355, 9d. Morts Dock were firmer with buyers and business at'l2s lOd. Taranaki Oilfields recovered to 4s Wilcox Mcfflin appeared easier with buyers and business at 13s 7d. Mining Maori Gully were a shade easier at sid. Broken Hill South rose to 51s 6d and 51s 9d, but closed easier with sellers at 51s 3d. Mount Lyells were m «j at *> rices ranging from 45s to 1 44s Bd, and more were wanted at the lowest price. Mount Morgans recovered to 13s 6d and there were' , further sellers at that figure. Unlisted Stock I Woolworths, Ltd., were steady with dealings at £7 Os 6d and £7, and these were sellers* and buyers' closing quotations respectively—sellers of the "rights" reduced their limits to 89s. ALL MARKETS BRISKER BREWERY SHARES DECLINE There was heavy trading in brewery shares on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, but prices weakened. Turnover in practically every section was good, and values as a whole were maintained.
