CITY THEATRES

AVON "GOD'S COUNTRY AND THE WOMAN" / A fast-moving drama set in primitive surroundings, "God's Country and the Woman," which has started its second week at the Avon Theatre, presents the problems and hardships of the American lumber camps in a way that has not been excelled. "Green Light" on Friday Commencing on Friday, an excellent drama, "Green Light," which has as its principal stars, Errol Flynn, Walter Abel, Anita Louise, and Margaret Lindsay, will be shown at the Avon Theatre. Errol Flynn is "the man of the moment" of the screen, and his acting in films of the calibre of "The Charge of the Light Brigade" has won him a place in the front rank of Hollywood fame. Walter Abel is a worthy second string, and he will be remembered best by Christchurch theatre-goers for his performance in "The Three Musketeers." Anita Louise will also be remembered for her exceptionally fine acting with Fredric March in "Anthony Adverse." Also included in the cast is Sir Cedric Hardwicke, who is known to all theatre-goers as one of Great Britain's greatest stars. The story for "Green Light" was adapted from the book written by Lloyd C. Douglas, of the same name. This author also wrote "Magnificent Obsession," which was the theme of one of the outstanding productions of last year.
