"MORE OR LESS OF DEATH TRAP"

SECTION AT CLYDE ROAD CORNER "It is more or less of a death trap. I don't know what the law is, but something should be done in the interests of life and property," said Cr. G G. Gardner at a meeting of the Waimairi County Council last evening, when the council was discussing the' danger existing at the corner of Clyde road and Riccarton road, where the section bounded by the tramway loop is unfenced. Cr. Gardner said that the lack of a fence and the confusion of lights made the position very dangerous. A letter had been sent to the Riccarton Borough Council, and a reply was received that the section was privately owned. "I think you'll find that the Tramway Board owns it," said the chairman (Cr. T. O. Newnham). Members: Of course they own it. 1 It was suggested that a letter be sent to the Tramway Board. A member: And whom will you write to next? ~ Cr C E Cross said that the matter was one for the Riccarton borough, as the section was outside the Waimain ( Cr FS. Scott: It concerns the interests of our ratepayers, who catch trams at the corner. _,.,„,' It was decided to write to the Tramway Board.
