COUNTY CHAIRMEN

CANTERBURY ELECTIONS >- ' Many county councils in New Zealand met yesterday to appoint chairmen for the ensuing year, in accordance with the Counties Act. In many cases in Canterbury, as in other provinces, the meetings were adjourned to coincide with the next monthly meetings. Chairmen elected by the following county councils in Canterbury were:— ' Ashburton: Mr F. Frampton (reelected). Kaikoura: Mr F. J. Monk (reelected). Rangiora: Mr H. Tulloch (reelected). Heathcote: Mr A. G. Williams (reelected). Selwyn: Mr W. Gilmour (reelected). Kowai: Mr H. May. Waimairi: Mr T. O. Newnham.
