AMALGAMATION PLAN IN SOUTH CANTERBURY
TENTATIVE BOUNDARIES ARRANGED
•(THE PRESS Special Service.] TIMARU, April 30. , Tentative boundaries for two proposed counties, of approximately equal size and rateable value, to replace the Levels. Mackenzie, Waimate, and Geraldine counties, were agreed on at a conference of county, representatives here to-day. The conference was held in accordance with instructions from the recent meeting of representatives to discuss the amalgamation proposals of the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry). The proceedings were taken in committee. The conference was attended by the chairmen of the County CouncilsMessrs T. B. Garrick (Levels), J. Bitjchener (Waimate), K. Mackenzie (Geraldine), and C. J. Talbot (Mackenzie), and the County Engineers, Messrs T, Black (Levels), W. P. Black (Waimate), C. E. Bremner (Geraldine) and D. Jeune (Mackenzie). The tentative boundaries will be submitted to a further conference of the counties, to be held in Timaru, probably on May 18.
