■■■ —— ■" ■" POPPY DAY Because Thursday is pay-day on the waterfront. Poppy Day will be held in Lyttelton to-day. In previous years it has always been held on a Friday, Milk for School Children Authorities of the Lyttelton schools have been unable, so far, to obtain a supply of milk for distribution to local school children. It is probable that the milk will have to be obtained from Christchurch, and an effort is now being made to expedite the commencement of the scheme. . 4 Magistrate’s Court . Mr F. F. Reid, S.M., presided at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. For being on licensed premises after hours. Ernest Hamill was convicted and fined 20s, and ordered to pay costs. For being in possession of unlicensed wireless sets the following de- ( fendants were convicted and ordexed to pay costs:—Joseph William Henry Firmston, 12s 6d; William Wanstall. ss; Algy James Priest, 30s; Arthur Dudley Wright, 17s 6d; Rita Winifred White-Parsons, costs only. _ _ „ In a civil case, M. J. Scott v, F. Gilray. judgment was given for the plaintiff for £1 14s lid.
