ROTARY CLUB

FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED

The luncheon of the Christchurch Rotary Club yesterday took the form of a celebration of the fifteenth anniversity of the foundation of the club on April 12, 1922. The president, Mr E. Hitchcock, was in the chair, and welcomed the foundation members of the club who were present. Mr Denys Hoare, a past president and a foundation member, outlined the work that was done in founding the club, and spoke especially of the work of the Hon. G. Fowlds, Mr J. A. Frostick, and Mr E. H. Wyles.

«• Mr J. W. Graham, vice-president of the club, conveyed greetings to the foundation members.

Mr Maughan Barnett, the new organist at the Christchurch Cathedral, who was welcomed as a new member of the club, also spoke. Reference to the work of the Bible-in-schools movement was made by the Hon. L. M. Isitt, M.L.C., one of the foundation members. The luncheon concluded with a report on the founding of the Ashburton Rotary Club by Mr Harold Lightband. Foundation members present who are now honorary members of the club were the Hon. L. M. Isitt, M.L.C. Messrs G. T. Booth, F. H. Sandall, Frank Thompson, and E. H. Wyles.
