AIR SPEED RECORD CLAIMED

1 (Received April 2, 11.45 p.m.) ROME, April 1. Furio Niclot claims the world's air speed record for 100 kilometres. He flew at an average speed of 517.836 kilometres an hour. The machine used was a Breda. [The existing record speed over 100 kilometres for light aeroplanes is 453.743 kilometres an hour, established bv the French pilots, M. Arnaux and Mme. Becker.]
