UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
HEADQUARTERS TO BE IN WELLINGTON Location of headquarters in Wellington for a period of three years, instead of having them in each University College centre in turn, was decided on at the annual general meeting of the New Zealand University Students’ Association held at Canterbury University College. It was thought that the affairs of the association could be conducted -lore efficiently if headquarters were not subject to change each year, and it was decided to try the new scheme for a period of three years. Mr R. M. Young was in the chair. It was decided to investigate the possibility of a tour of the Constituent Colleges of the University of New Zealand by a team of three negro students from an American university, in 1938, and also the possibility of sending a debating team consisting of three male students of the University of New Zealand to America in 1938. An athletic team representing the University of New Zealand should be sent on a tour of Australian universities during 1938, it was decided, providing that satisfactory financial arrangements could be made. The annual report and balance-sheet showed a very satisfactory year, and a sound financial position. A large number of student passports have been issued by the association during the year. Officers elected for this year are:— President, Mr P. Blair (Auckland University College); secretary, Mr R. M. Young (Canterbury University College); chairman, Mr I. O. Stace (Canterbury University College).
