N.Z. PIPE BANDS' CONTEST

EIGHT COMPETITORS AT TIMARU

TIMARU, March 24.

Arrangements have been made for the New Zealand pipe bands' contest to be held at the Caledonian Grounds on Saturday next, when the following eight bands will be competing:— Wanganui, City of Christchurch, Christchurch Scottish, Dunedin, Ashburton, Temuka. and Timaru. The quickstep is to be held at the Caledonian Grounds at 1.15 p.m., the bands marching from the Grand Hotel at 12.15 p.m. At 3 p.m. the drummajors' display will be held, after which there will be a parade of the massed bands. The competing bands will be given a welcome on the ground by the Mayor (Mr P. C. Vinnell). The test selection will be played from the sound shell at Caroline Bay in the evening.
