Mr H; E. Herring, M.P., was a passenger by the Rangatira from Wellington yesterday. Mr J. Epps, manager of Amuri Motors, Ltd., arrived from Wellington yesterday. Mr John Bates, of Fendalton, who has been indisposed for some time, has recovered and is now enjoying good health. Messrs William Anderson, R. Browning, Warren Fisher, and A. J. Scott were elected to the committee of the Christchurch Stock Exchange at the annual meeting last evening. Mr E. R. Caygill was re-elected auditor. Mr Henry Kitson was re-elected chairman of the Christchurch Stock Exchange at the annual meeting of the exchange last evening. Mr J. H. A. Moore was re-elected vice-chairman. Lord Balfour of Burleigh, a director of the National Bank and chairman of the London board of directors of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, arrived at Greymouth from Westport at midday yesterday. He left later for Hokitika, en route to the glaciers. Mr P. R. M. Hanna, assistant general manager, accompanied him.
Mr L. Glover, president of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour,- who was nominated to represent the workers at the Geneva conference of the International Labour Office, has decided to withdraw his nomination, in view of a movement for reorganisation of the industrial forces of the Dominion.—Press Association.
Mr T. E. O'Keefe, of Wellington, is visiting Christchurch, staying with his brother, Mr John O'Keefe, Hastings street, Sydenham.
