SCHOOLMASTER HONOURED

PRESENTATIONS AT ASHLEY BANK

A card party was held in the Ashley school on Tuesday evening to honour Mr and Mrs A. Dempsey and familv, who are leaving the district. Mr Dempsey has been headmaster at the Ashley school for the last six years, and is leaving to take up a similar position in Greenpark\ Mr M. Newell. for the school committee and residents, presented Mr and Mrs Dempsey with a travelling rug, and spoke of the esteem they were held in and the regret felt at their departure. Messrs R. Wright, P. Lindsay, F. Lowe, and C. Downing also spoke. .Mr H. Pateman. president ot the Tennis Club, asked Mr and Mrs Dempsey to accept a dinner waggon from the members of the Tennis Club. Mr and Mrs Dempsey have both been playing members, and Mr Dempsey has been president for a number of years. Mr Dempsey suitably replied for his wife and himself.
