MARINE BAND
In response to an invitation for pupils for a learners' class in connexion with the Lyttelton Marine Band, seven pupils have already been enrolled and further applications have been received, so that the number will probably reach 12. the limit for which instruments are available. Weekly practices are to be held and it is expected that the more advanced pupils will join the band within six months. The band, which has been recently reorganised, will make its first public appearance on Saturday week, at the Canterbury Rer>tta.
