GEORGE’S LAST DAYS
STRENGTH WAS FAILING FOR THREE MONTHS . (Received January 22, 1.45 a.m.) LONDON, January 21. Lord Dawson of Penn, the King’s physician, in a broadcast on behalf of the King George memorial fund, revealed that the ebbing of King George’s strength became pronounced early in October, 1935. His Work then became a great effort, but his interest and concern for his people showed no slackening. King George’s strength had been declining for two years. His Christmas broadcast of 1935 was the sunset glow of faithfulness and friendship amid lengthening shadows. No illness beset him. His litany was: •‘Give me life as long as I can bring Service and happiness.” FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH MANY WREATHS SENT TO WINDSOR CASTLE LONDON, January 20. ' The Archbishop of Canterbury KDr. Cosmo Gordon Lang), in opening, the Convocation of Canterbury at Westminster Abbey, said: “We gleet on the anniversary of the death of King George V. of blessed memory, whom in our hearts we remember with gratitude and love.
