FIRE IN, SANDHILLS AT NEW BRIGHTON
SECOND OUTBREAK WITHIN TWO DAYS The New Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade received a call at 1.47 on Saturday afternoon to a fire in the lupins and marram grass in the sandhills on a council reserve between Fisher and Victoria streets. Although it gave oft dense smoke, which could toe seen for several miles, the fire did not become dangerous, and in half an hour the brigade had extinguished the flames by shovelling on sand. This was the second scrub fire in South Brighton in two days. The cause of both fires is unknown.
