PHYSICAL TRAINING IN BRITAIN
. * - NATIONAL SCHEME TO BE PUBLISHED SOON (BBITISH OFFICIAL WIBELESS.) RUGBY, January 8. The Minister for Education (Mr Oliver Stanley) announced at Glasgow that the Government's scheme for national physical training would be ready for publication shortly after the reassembly of Parliament on January 19. He declared that the scheme would be voluntary. Its object was not to create specialists, or to make great athletes who could win at the next Olympic Games; nor was it intended to train men and women for a specific state purpose. Its simple and sufficient aim was to inspire all citizens with the desire to keen their bodies fit.'
