The Minister for Health and Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, is at present visiting Invercargill, where he is the guest of the Hon. T. O'Byrne,' M.L.C. Included in the Minister's itinerary are visits to Stewart Island, and to the Awarua, Wallace, Mataura, Clutha, and Central Otago electorates. Towards the end of next week the Minister expects 'to return to Wellington via Blenheim and Nelson. —Press Association. ; The Hon. R. Semple, Minister for Public Works, who is visiting Christchurch, will be engaged in departmental business to-day. The Minister will leave on his return to Wellington to-morrow evening. Archdeacon A. L. Hansell, of Wellington, and his brother, Major E. M. Hansell, of England, are visiting Christchurch. The Rev. A. H. Nordmeyer, M.P., returned from Wellington by the steamer express yesterday. He was accompanied by Mrs Nordmeyer. Mr A. C. Turnbull, Acting-Administrator of Samoa, will arrive at Lyttelton by the Maui Pomare this evening. Mr T, H. McCombs, M.P., left on Saturday for Auckland to attend the meeting of the Association for the Advancement of Science. The conference will be opened by the Minister for Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Mr McCombs will represent him at the conference after the opening ceremony. Dr. H. Daelmeyer, a prominent German scientist, arrived at Bluff from Melbourne by the Marama. He will attend the conference at Auckland of the Association for the Advancement of Science.—Press Association. Mr J. H. Gilbert, general traffic manager of the Union Steam Ship Company,, arrived from the North Island by the steamer express on Saturday and later left by aeroplane for Dunedin. Mr M. J. Gresson returned to Christchurch on Saturday from Wellington. Messrs B. Whitcombe and N. H. Barlow returned from the North Island by the steamer express on Saturday morning. , Dr. P. J. Monihan, chief medical officer for Western Samoa, is acting as administrator of the mandated territory during the absence in New Zealand of the acting-Administrator, Mr A. C. Turnbull. Adjutant and Mrs V. J. Dick, officers' in charge of the Salvation Army Auckland Congress Hall, are being transferred to the command of the Dunedin city branch. Their successors will be Adjutant and Mrs N. Bicknell, of the Ashburton Corps. The Rev. D. Haultain, Nelson, will leave by the Maunganui to-day for Sydney, where he will connect with the Mongolia for London. Dr. J. A. Stallworthy, who left for London as a holder of the New Zealand Obstetrical Scholarship, and became a member of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (London) in 1935, has secured his F.R.C.S. at the close of 1936. Dr. Stallworthy has been appointed to the staff of the Chelsea Hospital in London. Mr J. Macmillan, general manager and a director of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company, will arrive in Auckland to-day by the Awatea from Australia. Mr Macmillan, who is also a director of Dalgety arid Company.and of the National Mortgage and Agjmcy Company, will spend about six weeks in New Zealand. ~ Mr E. H. Andrews, Deputy-Mayor of Christchurch, and Mr J. S. Neville, Town Clerk, returned to Christchurch on Saturday " after a motor tour of Nelson, Marlborough, and the West Coast, including a visit to the Franz Josef arid Fox Glaciers.
Mr C. A. McKay,, president of the Canterbury branch of the Chemists' Service Guild, and J. Derbidge, a member of the Pharmacy Board,' left for the north on Saturday evening to attend the conference of the Australian and New\ Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science at Auckland. The Rev. W. S. Southward, vicar of St. Chad's, Linwood, returned to Christchurch on Saturday artel- spending about a year abroad, during which he served in several English parishes and travelled in Germany.
