NEW FACTS ABOUT CEREMONY OF 1565 ! (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) > RUGBY. January 8. The tenth annual report of the Friends of Canterbury Cathedral, which has just been published, in addition to recording another year’s work of the society in aiding the expert restoration of the cathedral fabric, contains a hitherto unpublished account of the Coronation pageant of Queen Elizabeth of special interest in the present year. The Queen was welcomed on her entry into London on May ‘24, 1565, by a ceremonial held on London bridge, where a platform was put together with 5000 nails and covered with 96 ells* of cloth. Nine hundred peacocks’ feathers were used- to make the wings of two “angels,” who, with St. Paul and St. Elizabeth, both impersonated by, men, welcomed'the Queen.
