MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED AT NEW BRIGHTON Percy Smith, a middle-aged man, living at 25 Fisher street New Brighton, received a compound fracture of the left thigh when the motor-cycle he was riding collided with j imotor-car at the corner of Bridge street and Estuary road. New Brighton, about 6 o'clock last, evening. He was aamitted to hospital, and his condition is not sericus. A young woman, who wa William Alexander, aged .l 7, of Mornings'de. and Howard Hallam, agtf 19, of Mount Albert, suffered head injuries and concussion. The condition of each youth is very serious. RIFLE SHOT THROUGH LUNG (rBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 29. Suffering from a severe wound in the chest, James Joy, aged 29, a upholsterer's employee, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital to-day. He was staying with a brother at Heme Bay, and it is believed that he was cleaning a rifle of small calibre when it accidentally discharged, one lung being pierced. His condition is reported to be sericus. OTAKI MAN'S DEATH FROM INJURIES (PRESS ASSOCIATIOK TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 29. Admitted to hospital en Sunday suffering lrom head injuries, Lawrence McLcod, a cycle mechanic, of Otaki, died early this morning. It is net known how he received the injuries. He set cut for church and was later found unconscious en Mill road, Otaki.
