PATROL FOR NORTH BEACH
SURF CLUB TO MAKE APPOINTMENT
Mr D. V. Wilson presided at a meeting of the executive of the North Beach Surf Club, held in the Memorial Hall yesterday afternoon. Mr Griffiths was appointed delegate to the Canterbury Surf Association In place of Mr C. R. Riordan, who has resigned because of his having left Christchurch.
The secretary was instructed to write to the New Brighton Borough Council expressing appreciation of the manner in which the improvements to the sun bathing area have been carried out, and thanking the council and particularly the Mayor (Mr E. L. Smith) for speeding up the work. Mr Allan Dalton reported that the school boys were taking a keen interest in the swimming classes held at the Tepid Baths. It was decided to appoint a beach patrol for a period of six weeks from December 23. Messrs D. V. Wilson, G, Rundle, and Allan Dalton were appointed a sub-committee to examine the applicants to make the appointment.
