OFFICIAL FORECASTS

[THB PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, November 15. The Dominion Observatory’s weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough. issued at 5 p.m., and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Light to moderate and variable winds with south-westerlies predominating at first. weather fair to fine, temperatures cool, but rising; seas moderate. The official Dominion forecast is:— A few isolated showers at first on the west coast of the North Island, but otherwise fair to fine; temperatures cool with some frosts inland. A disturbance of slight intensity is now passing off the Dominion and an anti-cyclone is approaching from the Tasman sea. Winds—Light to fresh winds between south-west and south-east, decreasing gradually except in the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rather rough at first in the South Taranaki bight, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea —Light to moderate southerly winds. later becoming variable and tending to north-easterly in the western portion. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER After warm sunshine during the earlier part of the day the weather changed on Saturday afternoon, and there was heavy rain till a late hour of the night. Yesterday was fine and warm, with a light north-east wind. The maximum temperature for the week-end was 62.8 degrees, recorded on Saturday. At 1 o’clock this morning a strong easterly breeze was blowing and the sky was clear. The temperature was 49 degrees, and the barometer was steady at 30.05 inches. IN OTHER PLACES ' Auckland—The weather was unpleasant and wet during the week-end. A njoderate westerly wind was blowing bn both days, and conditions were squally and showery with intervals of sunshine. The barometer rose to SO.OOin and then remained steady. •Wellington—Saturday was fine and sunny, with a fresh north-west breeze. The maximum temperature was 60.6 degrees. The wind changed to the south and heavy rain feu, .at 1 a.m. .at Kelburn. Tne morning was cloudy, but the afternoon was brilliantly fine with a cool south-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 54.1 degrees. Dunedin—There was a light breeze from the south,-west on Saturday, and rain showers were frequent. The maximum temperature was 58 degrees.
