WRESTLING
GEORGE BEATS MCCREADY AT AUCKLAND
CANADIAN HURLED PROM RING
(P&XSS A.SXOCIXTIOH TILEGEiM.) AUCKLAND, November 15. A crowd of more than 12,000 which attended Carlaw Park on Saturday night saw a wrestling contest of a standard which could scarcely be improved upon in any part of the world. One of the contestants, Ed Don George, America, was twice holder of the world’s title, while his opponent, Earl McCready, Canada, is recognised as one of the most likely men to gain a similar distinction in the near future. The match was won by George, who secured the only fall in the sixth round. He hurled McCready through the ropes. The latter was unfortunate enough to strike the back of his head ©n a wooden standard to which was attached the electric lighting system for the ring. McCready lay■ prostrate on the grass for a few seconds, but managed to regain his feet and climb groggilv back into the ring just before the end of the regulation count of 20. It was obvious that he was feeling the effects of the knock, and he was a comparatively easy prey to a succession of lifts and slams, which gave the American a fall with a body press.
